An astrologer's little corner of the noosphere |

| The Pisces Connection While sitting here reading Viktor Frankl’s book on Logotheraphy I realized that the humanist-existential camp of psychology should send thank you notes to astrologers for promoting what they value, finding meaning in existence. We have enough insight into ontos and logos to share with the entire world over a long period of time. It’s obvious that I’ve had an interesting event and want to tell you about it. It’s an event of the spirit and for a Pisces an event of the heart. I recently experienced a lovely subtle meaningful interconnection of many related things while substituting in a high school English class. Death, Edgar Allen Poe, teenagers, and astrology brought this to me. And we all survived it except for the 10 kids that got detentions and the sweet boy who fell asleep on his test while trying to take it. The teacher was out for an entire week due to a death in her family and our focus for the week was Edgar Allen Poe. We read the “Raven” and “The Pit and the Pendulum” and saw the 1964 Vincent Price rendition of “The Masque of the Red Death”. I was amazed at Poe’s insight into psychological states. In “The Raven” we saw his deep understanding of grief. In the “Pit” we felt along with the helpless victim terror at the hands of overwhelming forces. And in the “Masque” we saw the folly of Prince Prospero’s investment of years of using black magic in order to outdistance death. Naturally, I had to look for Poe’s chart and fortunately, I had it. I found that he had Venus, the Moon, Jupiter, and Pluto in the psychological water sign Pisces, trining Uranus in the intensely emotional water sign Scorpio, and squaring Saturn and Neptune in Sagittarius. The water sign planets gave his insight into the psyche. The trine of the Pisces planets to Uranus in Scorpio increased his brilliance and morbidity. Their square to Saturn took away his father and mother. And their square to Neptune brought alcohol, opium, and heroin to him. But this is only part of the connection that I’m talking about. This is the part where we see his nature and events connected to his planets. The other part follows. You see, I’m a Pisces and at this time, the Sun, Mercury, and Uranus are in Pisces. So, a Pisces, at a Pisces time of year is studying another Pisces, Poe. And it doesn’t stop here. While telling all this to a dear friend who has Jupiter in Pisces, he informed me that Price did the laughing for the Michael Jackson video, “Thriller”. Jackson, who is currently on trial and in the news at this Pisces time, has the Moon in Pisces. Vincent Price has the Ascendant in Pisces and Mars there also. And finally, “The Masque of the Red Death” was released on June 24th 1964 when Saturn was in Pisces. So, here it is. What a gift of meaning for my birthday. I got just what I wanted, evidence for my continued belief in an idealized world where subtle supernatural connections represented by planets and signs really work. On the surface it appeared that I was in this class at this time because the teacher was out and I was chosen because I had the reputation for making the kids work. And this is partly true. But I was also there because it was natural at this time for a number of Piscean things and people to come together. You might think this is the only time something like this has happened. It isn’t. I was in a music class where the kids were playing “The Tomb of Couperin” by Ravel. I was impressed by them and the piece and Ravel. I found out later that day that Ravel had been in WW1. He survived but lost friends in the war. So he dedicated parts of this work to his fallen friends. I think I cried, I also looked up his planets. He had the Sun, Moon and Mercury in Pisces. The day this happened, the Moon was in Pisces. |
