The Astrology of 2007

In order to look at the flavor of the coming year, we need to look at the placement of the planets. Some planets stay in a sign for years and they have an enduring effect. Let's start with the slower moving planets.

Pluto in Sagittarius ('96 until 2008). Pluto is continuing to be in the sign Sagittarius but not for too much longer. We continue to combine Pluto qualities and things with those of Sagittarius. Pluto represents very forceful and potent things, people, and situations. Some Pluto things are: nuclear power and weapons, gangs, groups and the group dynamic, death, extremes, and Scorpios. As examples of Pluto or its sign Scorpio, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross has the Sun near the Moon and Pluto right between them. Remember her death and dying research and counseling. Bobby Kennedy had Mars, Saturn, and the Sun in Scorpio in a key place in his chart. You remember how intense he was in his attacks on Castro, the mob, and Hoffa.

Sagittarius represents teachers and teaching, religion, preaching and professing, travel, adventure, horses, and centaur type people who have a strong physical side and a strong higher mind side. A great Sag example is Billy Graham. He has Mars and the Moon in Sag in the 9th (Sag) house and Mars is the planet that represents him. That's three counts for preaching and he is world class.

As to current events, in recent time we have seen scandals in the Church and in evangelical circles. We've seen extreme sports and especially extremes in religion, such as the Taliban and the Christian right. Since Pluto represents nuclear things and Sag represents all types of projectiles, I am pleasantly relieved that we have not had launching of nuclear missiles, although they have been on our minds. Pluto/Sag relationships should continue to impress us until 2008, an election year. On a personal level, those with something in Sag should continue to face the forceful things and people in their lives and take positive action and assert themselves where necessary. On a positive level they could come into contact with their own personal force.

But, we must note that Pluto gets very close to Capricorn in '07. This means that early Capricorns and Cancers will feel the force of Pluto. Building up one's personal force and actively facing the forceful tings and people that come to us will make the most of this. In terms of the world, Pluto in Capricorn represents extremes in government and governments compeling their populations to do and not do certain things. Since Capricorn represents one's public image, we may be interested in projecting an image of forcefulness.

Incidentally, astrologers are unconcerned about Pluto being designated as a minor planet. We look for events that Pluto produced and they are not lacking. Pluto was discovered when Hitler was coming to power. During the liberation movements of the '60's forceful Pluto next to revolutionary Uranus produced the fuel for these revolutions. We became aware of aids with Pluto in the sex sign, Scorpio and we saw above the connection between religion and extremes with Pluto in Sagittarius.

Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius. '03 to 2011 and '98 to 2011. Although Neptune went into Aquarius before Uranus went into Pisces, note that they leave these signs the same year. They are in what is called mutual reception. This means that they are in each other's signs and are responding to each other. Neptune brings a desire for spirituality to all. It shows humanity focused on the mystical or having a confused focus. It also shows something strange in the air. Uranus in Pisces shows discoveries in metaphysical areas and in the supernatural. It also shows discoveries in the oceans and something unusual in water. We can see both the good and bad possibilities here. The next few lines should be taken figuratively. With Neptunium in air and Uranium in water and Plutonium in earth, after Pluto goes to Capricorn, it suggests that we should do something now about nuclear proliferation. On the plus side, a near death experience of a famous and outspoken person would testify to life after death and exemplify Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces. This is an example not a prediction. On a personal level spirituality is coming to Aquarians and discovery and new vistas to Pisces.

Saturn in Leo (July '05 to Sep '07). Due to Saturn having the highest orbit of the visible planets, it represents the highest expression of things, the best the world has to offer, and the ultimate. Because it is also the planet of loss and grief this tends to be overshadowed. We tend to dread passages of Saturn, Instead, we should prepare ourselves for the best by planning, developing discipline, and working effectively. When Saturn was in Cancer, the home sign, homeland security developed. We also had the peak in the housing market, the ultimate (Saturn) in the home sign. With Saturn in Leo, the sign of children, entertainment, ruling, and being the center of attention, we can achieve the attention we need by facing and overcoming our reticence to be on stage, to be at the center. We have to perform in order to achieve. Saturn went into Leo just before Katrina and joined Neptune and Mars in a â€œTâ€ square. This was the energy of the storm and it did produce great loss and the separation of many children from their families. As Saturn continues in Leo we should take care to protect our kids while also making them happy and building their self esteem. Leo's should avoid overwork, have more fun, and build up their vitality. Note that President Bush has Saturn temporarily passing over his numerous Leo planets. As president he comes into contact with the best. He also just lost big with the '06 election that produced a Democratic House and a Democratic Senate.

As Saturn goes to Virgo (September '07 to Nov '09), the sign of work, service, mission, and health, Virgos should follow the above advice. In fact, we all should, as Saturn in the work sign can get carried way and fatigued and ill. This is a great time to review our mission statements and make adjustments. Depending on our actions, we could lose in health and work or achieve the ultimate. Since Bush has Mars in Virgo, I would advise him to resolve conflict now before the planet of loss is on the planet of war in his chart.

Jupiter has been in Scorpio from late Oct '05 until late Nov '06. This has produced opportunities for Scorpios and an increase in Scorpio things, insurance rates and the price of borrowing money. Bill Gates has the Sun, Venus, and Saturn in Scorpio and he embarked on his generous Jovian activities with Jupiter in Scorpio.

As Jupiter goes into Sagittarius from late Nov '06 until mid Dec '07, Sagittarians will have opportunities for growth and success. Good things and people and the good life will come to them. In this it helps if they are on good terms with the law and the community. Jupiter will bring good things and expansion to Sagittarian things like travel, education, and religion. Kerry has the Sun in Sagittarius in a key place in his chart, so this is good for him. Sagittarius is an important part of the U.S. chart and Jupiter here could bring good things to us, help with the war, and an increase in allies.

Aspects. During '06 Saturn, Neptune, and Jupiter at times formed a tense relationship with each other. Jupiter leaves Saturn and Neptune which are still in opposition in late Nov. '06. Let's remember that this opposition contrasts realistic approaches to life and idealistic approaches. To make the most of this opposition, we should value both views and try to use them wisely. We want to avoid limiting our idealism and confusing the real facts.

As Jupiter leaves Scorpio it joins Pluto in Sagittarius and at times brings together a wide square between Pluto and Uranus. This square means extreme radical changes. Jupiter stimulates and softens this square due to its benevolent qualities. In our personal lives we can avoid the trouble of this square by facing problems with action, and valuing reliable people and sensible methods and by developing good judgment. In the world, since Jupiter and Sagittarius are both about religion, we'll see religion causing and undergoing radical change.

During '07, Mars will pass from the sign Capricorn through Cancer. As it goes through each sign, taking about 2 months, it fires things up and energizes. With Mars it is always good to manage stress and conflict. The most interesting part of Mars's motions in '07 happens towards the end of the year. Mars will be in Cancer from Oct '07 until the 2nd week of May '08 with the exception of January and February, when it is in late Gemini. Imagine Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn affecting Capricorn and Cancer and Mars in Cancer affecting Capricorn and Cancer. I find myself telling these people to get into martial arts or something similar that strengthens mind and body. President Bush has the Sun and Saturn in Cancer and the U.S. chart has Jupiter, Venus, the Sun and Mercury in Cancer. So we'll have some difficult events.

There will be two eclipse seasons in '07, one in March and the other in late August and mid September. These eclipses will happen in Virgo and Pisces. Eclipses can be life altering for good or for bad. Virgos and Pisces should be looking for new and expansive activities during this time. Risky behaviors should be avoided.
